Krugman is not always the best guy to be listening to out there, but I think he presents a compelling narrative in his opinion piece in the NY Times today, "The Unwisdom of the Elites." Wannabe Republican primary candidates who pick up this theme may find success, but perhaps I am looking ahead to the general elections prematurely. The "elite" label is one that sticks pretty well to President Obama and you don't get elected chiding the American people and asking them to make sacrifices for what may feel like to them the greed of the top dogs. On the flip side, I can't help but think that corporations are very much ready to throw their significant weight behind a candidate who is going to be behind them once again.
